Frequently asked questions
Can I BYOB?
Cans, bottles, and coolers will NOT be allowed inside the festival. Please leave these items at home!
How can I get involved?
We're looking for volunteers to help out behind the scenes! We have a number of jobs available, including working alongside the PitCrews to prepare and serve some of the world's best barbecue. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and meal on the house. Space is limited, so sign up today!
Can I sample the BBQ?
You bet you can! Step right up to Budweiser Pit Row, where our nine pitmasters will each be selling a barbecue dish and side of their choosing.
How much is it?
Entry to Q in the Lou is free! Barbecue, beer, and more will be available for purchase. You can also upgrade your experience with VIP tickets and our BBQ MasterClasses. More on that below.
What is included in the VIP experience?
We have several VIP ticket packages available. The standard Q VIP pass is $75 per day and includes barbecue samples presented in person by each pitmaster, VIP tent and restroom access, and open bar.
Are VIP tickets date-specific,
or can they be used any of the three days?
Yes, VIP tickets are date-specific. Over on our VIP page, you can select which day you’d like to go VIP — either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. VIP tickets must be used on the day for which they were purchased. This will help us ensure that there’s enough BBQ and beer to go around.
Will the pitmasters be selling their rubs and sauces?
Oh yeah. Head to our BBQ Expo area during the event, where you’ll find rubs, sauces, merchandise, and more available for purchase from all nine celebrity pitmasters.
How long are the BBQ MasterClasses?
Each BBQ MasterClass will last approximately 45 minutes.
How many people can attend each BBQ MasterClass?
We want all of our eager BBQ students to be able to soak up as much pitmaster knowledge as possible, so we’re limiting each BBQ MasterClass to 50 attendees.
Will there be samples at the BBQ MasterClasses?
Pitmasters will demonstrate their full barbecue technique, from raw slab to finished product. At the end of each seminar, pitmasters will provide a sample of finished product for every ticket-holding attendee to try.
How late will BBQ be served during the festival?
In true pitmaster style, we’ll keep serving barbecue until we sell out! The festival grounds close at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
What are the Social Media Contest guidelines?
Social media giveaways are not endorsed by Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat and are solely the function of Q in the Lou. The content is restricted to ages 18+ and prizes must be picked up in person at Q in the Lou, September 23-25. Q in the Lou cannot be held responsible for overlooked eligible posts on social media: please inform the social media manager if your qualifying post does not receive a response. Prizes limited to one per participant.
Where do I park?
We recommend taking the Metro to any of the convenient stops near the festival.
For drivers, we have partnered with Parking Panda, the nationwide leader in online parking reservations, to allow visitors to purchase guaranteed parking for Q in the Lou. View real-time availability and pricing at many locations within easy walking distance to the event.
Once purchased, parking is 100% guaranteed even if the location otherwise fills up. Simply present your purchase confirmation at the selected location, and this serves as your payment with no additional payments or fees ever. Parking availability is very limited, so it is strongly recommended that you purchase parking passes in advance, if driving.
